Just the little things that a great and wise government can do for you!
Hey anyone/everyone that loves Yaks. I really have no idea of what to blog about. I can tell you that in the grunge of a recession and mire of my business reality, yaks continue to lead me in the right direction. My family had the opportunity to take “a road like Black Bear Road” last [...]
Folks, this is a great song inspired by a young bull yak we sold to some folks in Florissant CO. He was a bit rambunctious and escaped to the Fossil Beds National Park were we could not drive in and get him. We were able to walk up and feed him a number of times but we could not catch him. Finally his new owner was able to bring him in and Matthew is now happy at this new home. One thing we have learned is that yaks have to know they are home or they will try to go back where they came from, making friends all along the way!

Getting enough milk to provide anymore than personal consumption is going to be a challenge. Keep an eye [...]
Efforts to indoctrinate children in to the world of yaks pays off! Mackenzie will present, on Friday, 3/6/2009, that “yaks are going to take over the world!” It was great to reconnect with old friends and to see their beautiful daughters have fun learning about yaks and sharing with their friends.
We have been spending a good deal of wintertime thinking about our ranch and how to develop complementary operations to our central yak business. Books by Joel Salatin and the have been in heavy rotation.
A great learning year. We still think Skywalker was the Best in Show but “God loves a Terrier”! Skywalker won a red ribbon in the Yak Bull Calf pen show. The competition at the show continues to increase. This year several of the OG yak herders showed up for the first time in years and [...]
